There really isn't that much lacking when you compare the two on a playthrough by playthrough basis. By the time you get to Act II in F:NV, you will probably have made an enemy (NCR or The Legion), for whom you will not be doing any quests. You can't progress both Wild Card and The House Always Wins very far without rendering the other impossible. Quests like Wind-Brahmin Wrangler and Strategic Nuclear Moose are single interaction events that are counted as quests. Not that Fallout 3's list doesn't have a few of those (Walter's Scrap Metal), but by and large, 3's minor interactions aren't counted as quests.I like F:NV better, but it isn't because of the number of events recorded as quests.
Look people that love FO 3 or even prefer it to FO:NV. You don't have to justify it or defend it.
NV is a sequel using an updated version of the same engine. That shaves years off the production time that can be put back into quest and world building.
If NV hadn't been a more content packed game then FE3 it would be a failure by every measure. Games shouldn't try and hit a bar they should always surpass it, to Bethesda's credit they did that in spades.As much as I prefer and enjoy NV more I still give FE3 massive props for being what it was, a rebirth of the fallout franchise and a beautiful and engaging one at that. Sort folders by size.

F3 probably has more unfortunately most of them are the stupid kind of weird so theres more since they are not constrained by logic.Nonsense, Fallout 3 had awesome quests, going into Andale, the ant quest (Which referenced one of the goofiest black and white movies i've ever seen.), the 'music' vault. And what do you mean stupid kind of weird?
New vegas's Ghoul quest is stupider than almost anything in all of Fallout 3.New Vegas has alot more quests, the ones in Fallout 3 are of a higher quality, even if the story holding them together is weaker. Stop, I don't get people calling NV great. I did all of those quests, none of them were ever entertaining. The helios staion? Yeah, I forgot I like walking around for an hour like it's a damn Animal Crossing quest.
If you want to have fun and play a game with a good story Fallout 3 is far superior. TC, since you already have New Vegas, play it. If it sucks you in, and you really like it, more of the same great rpg gameplay awaits in FO3. It took me a while to warm up to the Fallout universe, but once I did I can't get enough.

Sure it's a weird place but how do those kids survive? They live right next to Super Mutants yet have no viable defenses. Slavers even know where they are located, yet they have not attacked the kids in all that time. Furthermore how do defenseless kids even make it across the desert to that cave in the first place. I'm pretty sure they know how to survive by now. Yet here you are a dude/dudette 10 minutes out of the vault helping write it. Then you meet people in the world that even try to use it.Harold and the entire Oasis quest line is also utter stupidity. The dude had a tiny tree branch on his head.
Yet now he is suddenly a full on fucking tree. How the hell did he get rooted to the ground? Was he standing in one place for a year or two? Did the tree grow roots overnight at some point when he went to sleep. What the fuck?Lets move on to the hard ass town sheriff that allows a complete stranger to try and tinker with a nuclear device in the center of the town, hell he even gives directions. Why has the Brotherhood, or various raiders, or Enclave, or Supermutants never think of trying to obtain the said nuclear bomb. Last time I checked something like that could be valuable.I would love to stay and chat further on the stupid kind of weird, but frankly I already did that several times over.

Like Camp Searchlight, supposedly the only way to become a ghoul was by prolonged exposure to radiation, anything else would just kill you, as in Necropolis/Vault 12, and yet every soldier in the camp was ghoulified because one slaver opened a tank of radioactive gas that just happened to be sitting in the town's firestation.For the sake of the OP i'll stop there, keep in mind he hasn't played these games.In the majority of cases yes it takes a while to become a ghoul, but the speed varies. And I'm not talking potholes, I'm talking about complete logic failures on multiple levels. Existence of Vegas is not absurd. It is in fact quite realistic.

Vice exists at all times as has been proven in reality time and time again. Furthermore, it has been 200 years since the bomb, most people are living normal lives, whole cities have appeared and governments, NCR is just one example.

I disagree with everything you just wrote. I found New Vegas to be much more entertaining the the stoic dour tone of Fallout 3. It was much more in keeping with the originals. Still, Fallout 2 was the best.
I still remember blowing up those outhouses. Then feel free to enlighten me, I just can't really think of any good memorable quests, I don't consider classifying sexbot recruitment as a wacky quest when that whole thing was balls.
